Migrant Student Data

Concentration Elective Description: The Data Quality Certification Program Concentration in  Migrant Student Data is designed to increase understanding of the specific migrant data collected by KSDE.

Target Audience: DQC participants seeking certification may include this optional concentration in their certification coursework. However, this concentration may also be taken by those not seeking certification in the DQC Program. The Migrant Student Data Concentration Elective has been designed for Migrant Data Clerks but is open to all school and district staff, SIS Vendors, KSDE employees, or anyone seeking to understand more about how Migrant data is reported to KSDE.

Course Delivery Methods:

 1.     Participants may complete the session participation requirement by choosing one of the following two options

 a.    Online recordings will be the primary platform for the Migrant Student Data Concentration Elective. Participants are required to view the recording prior to completing the homework exercises. If a participant attends a regional conference presentation, then he/she does not need to view an online recording.

b.    In-person presentations for the Migrant Student Data Concentration Elective may be offered at regional education conferences. In-person sessions will be offered when a conference accepts the DQC Concentration Elective as a session. If a participant views the recording, then he/she does not need to participate in a conference session.

            2.     Homework Exercises

a.    Participants are required to complete all homework exercises via the online learning management site, Quia.com. After viewing the Migrant Student Data Concentration Elective video, participants will be required to complete a series of follow-up homework exercises in Quia.
