Special Education Data

Concentration Elective Description: The Data Quality Certification Program Concentration in Special Education Student Data is designed to increase understanding of the specific data collected about Special Education students by the KSDE.

Target Audience: DQC participants seeking certification may include this optional concentration in their certification coursework. However, this concentration may also be taken by those not seeking certification in the DQC Program. The Special Education Student Data Concentration is open to school and district staff, SIS Vendors, KSDE employees, Special Education Coordinators, or anyone seeking to understand more about how special education data is reported to KSDE.

Course Delivery Methods:

 1.     Participants may complete the session participation requirement by choosing one of the following two options

 a.    Online recordings will be the primary platform for the Special Education Student Data Concentration Elective. Participants are required to view the recording prior to completing the homework exercises. If a participant attends a regional conference presentation, then he/she does not need to view an online recording.

b.    In-person presentations for the Special Education Student Data Concentration Elective may be offered at regional education conferences. In-person sessions will be offered when a conference accepts the DQC Concentration Elective as a session. If a participant views the recording, then he/she does not need to participate in a conference session.

            2.     Homework Exercises

a.    Participants are required to complete all homework exercises via the online learning management site, Quia.com. After attending the Special Education Student Data Concentration session, participants will be required to complete a series of follow-up homework exercises in Quia.
