Scoring Process

How will your technology plan be scored by the readers?

You will enter your technology plan online.  The beginning screen will ask for your school district information, and will then go to a screen of the eight questions regarding Board approved policies.  It is expected that you will respond to the eight questions (See Legal Items List) in an appropriate manner.

The readers and/or the TAKE Team may ask to see a copy of such things as your appropriate use policy or your gift disposal policy, but these items are not required to be filed at the time you submit your new online plan.  Just be sure you have them available and that you keep them updated yearly.  Any questions that you respond to with a “No” answer require a complete explanation and you will be asked to notify TAKE when your district has fulfilled the requirement involved.

The rest of the technology plan will be evaluated and scored under the new Technology Plan Rubric.  There will be three (3) rating categories; Awareness rating will be scored as one (1), Emerging rating as two (2), and Leadership rating as three (3).

Your technology plan will be expected to average in the category of Emerging.  If any of the eight (8) questions fall into the category of Awareness you will be given information from the readers on areas for improvement and given a conditional approval for six months to improve your plan.

Plans that average overall in Emerging or Leadership will be approved for three years. After that three year cycle is completed, you will be given access to your current plan online to update/revise it and then re-submit it for approval.  However, if at anytime during the three-year cycle you wish to update your technology plan please notify Richard Matteson at rmatteson@ksde.org and he will give you access to edit your current plan.

If you have questions or concerns, contact Melinda Stanley at mstanley@ksde.org or 785-296-1204.
