How will district technology plans be scored?
District technology plans are submitted to KSDE online through the Authenticated Applications portal/associated login. The beginning screen which includes district information is pulled from the KSDE Directory Application (if corrections need to be made, districts should resubmit Director information to KSDE). Districts are asked eight policy related questions (See Legal Items List). KSDE's TAKE Team may ask to see a copy of such things as your appropriate use policy or your gift disposal policy, but these items are not required to be submitted or filed at the time the new technology plan is submitted. Districts may choose to submit these as 'attachment' pdf files, if districts desire to have the complete plan and all policies is a consolidated place for future reference or archiving purposes, but this is not required. Policy questions that elicit a “No” answer require an explanation regarding district planning related to addressing it.
The additional, narrative components of the technology plan are reviewed/scored according to the Technology Plan Rubric. There are several sections that are required, but not scored. There are three rating categories: Approaches Requirement will be scored as one (1); Meets Requirement as two (2); and Exemplary as three (3).
For approval, each section must score a minimum of "Meets Requirement." If any of the sections fall into the category of Approaches Requirement districts will be provided with feedback and suggestions on areas for improvement and a conditional approval will be issued along with a request to revise/improve and then resubmit the plan.
Plans are approved for a three year period running from July 1st to June 30th. A new plan will be due in the month of December prior to plan expiration. If at anytime during the three-year cycle you wish to update your technology plan you can edit your printed plan and print a copy for your records.
