In the Driver's Seat

KSDE Emergency Safety Intervention regulations (KAR 91-42-1 & 91-42-2), requires schools to implement Emergency Safety Intervention (ESI) policies and training for school employees. The ESI regulations are for all students. KSDE has provided each Kansas School District a training kit titled "In the Driver's Seat".  The kit was created as part of the safe and Civil Schools training series by Randy Sprick and is designed to help school bus drivers maintain a safe and positive bus climate and will help school districts meet the requirements for training specified in these new regulations.

More information and resources can be found on the School Bus Safety Unit's  Resources for Positive Behavior & Emergency Safety Intervention Support web page.
