SGMs Used to Inform Personnel Decisions

Kansas Curriculum Assessment Data Used to “Inform Personnel Decisions” Timeline

Prior to including student growth as a significant factor on evaluations, Kansas will provide calculated student growth expectations for all students based on multiple years of longitudinal data collected from state assessments in all areas and grade levels where assessed.

Due to the Kansas State Board of Education voting to leave the SBAC Consortium, and selecting the Center for Educational Testing and Evaluation (CETE) at The University of Kansas to develop assessments in Math and English Language arts, enhancements to the assessments will not be scored until the 2015-2016 school year. As a result, the 2017-2018 school year will be the first year Kansas will have two years of data to calculate growth.

The KSDE proposes to use longitudinal student growth data to inform personnel decisions, based on 2016-2017 data, beginning in 2017-2018.
